Job summary

This is an on-site Field Survey Manager role based in San Diego, California. The successful candidate will lead the surveying department across development, infrastructure, and land development projects, directing field crews and office staff to deliver accurate, timely results.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of land surveying experience, strong leadership, and proficiency with Civil 3D, Word, and Excel, along with excellent communication and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of professional land surveying experience.
• Experience managing survey crews, projects, or survey department operations.
• Strong knowledge of boundary, topographic, construction staking, and control surveys.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D, Word, and Excel.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with tight schedules and budgets.
• High attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy and quality.
• Ability to collaborate with field crews, technical staff, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the survey department, including field crews and office staff.
• Oversee boundary, topographic, construction staking, and control surveys.
• Coordinate surveying activities with project managers, engineers, contractors, and municipalities.
• Review survey data, CAD drawings, calculations, and deliverables for accuracy.
• Maintain survey records, reports, and project deliverables to standards and regulations.
• Manage multiple projects, schedules, budgets, and quality targets.
• Prepare proposals, contracts, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and profitability.
• Identify risks and coordinate resource planning and scheduling.
• Support client relationships and business development.
