Job summary

Keeley Companies in Austin, Texas seeks an experienced Survey Technician to lead a field crew and deliver accurate survey data for civil projects in the Austin/San Marcos region.

You will operate GPS devices, total stations, and data collectors, prepare sketches and reports, and coordinate work with engineers, project managers, and clients while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; degree in surveying/geomatics/civil engineering often preferred.
• Typically 3–5 years of land surveying experience with leadership exposure.
• Experience reading electrical and civil plans is a plus.
• Proficiency with GPS units, total stations, levels and data collectors.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a field survey crew for topo, boundary, ALTA/NSPS and staking tasks.
• Set up GPS equipment, total stations, levels and other survey instruments.
• Ensure accurate data collection including measurements and elevations.
• Prepare sketches, maps and survey reports to document findings.
• Coordinate daily tasks and project deadlines with stakeholders.
• Communicate project requirements and progress with managers and clients.
• Maintain equipment calibration and report issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
