Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Survey Field Intern for our Ames location to work with an experienced crew chief and apply classroom skills in real projects this summer.

The role is focused on our Land Surveying service group for the 2027 Summer season. You will perform boundary and topographic surveys, assist with ALTA surveys, and gain hands-on experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment while interacting with staff and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Pursuing civil engineering/land surveying degree or related field.
• Minimum GPA 2.8, preferred 3.2.
• Ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain and on construction sites.
• Some surveying coursework and AutoCAD drafting preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation; travel may be reimbursed.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time/part-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection.
• Be on construction staking and gain field experience with Trimble and GPS equipment.
• Interact with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors on projects.
