Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers seeks an experienced field crew member to operate surveying instruments and support the Party Chief in advanced land surveying tasks. You will load, maintain, and deploy Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, GPS-RTK units, and levels in the field, and perform precise measurements and staking.

You will guide Rodmen, perform basic field calculations, and help address routine issues while complying with safety protocols across varied terrains and weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years in land surveying or related role.
• Proficient with advanced surveying instruments and data collection.
• Able to perform and analyze technical calculations independently.
• Knowledge of survey procedures and equipment.
• Good communication, teamwork, and leadership potential.
• Physically able to lift up to 35 lbs and work in varied conditions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, inspect, and maintain survey equipment.
• Operate data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK receivers.
• Conduct field measurements for natural and man-made features.
• Perform construction staking for streets, utilities, drains, and lot layouts.
• Record notes, sketches, and survey data with accuracy.
• Guide and direct Rodmen and junior crew members.
• Perform minor field calculations and spatial analysis.
• Assist Party Chief and lead crew in their absence while ensuring safety.
• Adhere to safety protocols and project requirements.
