Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a Survey Field Technician to operate surveying instruments and assist the Party Chief on demanding field tasks. You will load, maintain, and use Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, GPS-RTK receivers, levels, and data collectors, while keeping detailed notes and ensuring safety on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of land surveying experience.
• Ability to operate surveying instruments and collect data.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform basic field calculations and data analysis.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs and work outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, inspect, and maintain survey equipment.
• Operate data collectors, Total Stations, Robotic Total Stations, levels, and GPS-RTK Receivers.
• Perform field work to ascertain precise measurements and locations of natural features and man-made structures.
• Conduct construction staking for streets, utilities, drains, and lot layouts.
• Compile detailed notes, sketches, and records of survey data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Provide guidance and direction to Rodmen and less experienced crew members.
• Perform minor field calculations and spatial data analysis.
• Assist the Party Chief in addressing moderately complex issues and running the crew in their absence.
• Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the crew complies with project requirements.
