Location/Region: This position is located in the Michigan area and will cover the Central Mid-West territory.

What's the role?

As a Field Support Engineer II, you will work with an outstanding team to maintain and repair Surgical Microscopes.

The Field Support Engineer II, with limited supervision, installs, repairs, upgrades, and performs preventive maintenance on specified Carl Zeiss Meditec instrumentation within a designated field service territory. Represents Carl Zeiss Meditec at customer locations and strives to achieve high customer satisfaction. Responsible for all company-issued property (inventory, tools, diagnostic equipment, vehicle, etc.) in accordance with company policies. Maintains professional communication with team members, customers, management, Sales, and Technical Support.

  1. Diagnose and repair designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventive maintenance, installations, and upgrades following training, manuals, and Carl Zeiss Meditec guidelines.
  2. Schedule, verify, and modify customer visits based on customer needs, considering financial impact and patient well-being.
  3. Complete and submit daily field service reports according to procedures.
  4. Complete and submit weekly expense reports per company policies.
  5. Maintain spare parts inventory and return parts as per policy.
  6. Support revenue growth through promotion and retention of service agreements.
  7. Interface professionally with customers, maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
  8. Other duties may include instructing customers on equipment operation and maintenance, supporting trade shows, and maintaining company-issued tools and equipment.

Do you qualify?

  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, Optics, or Medical Field Service.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or Computer Technology preferred.
  • A+ and Net+ certifications preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot difficult customer issues to ensure satisfaction.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to pass training for servicing fine mechanics and optics.
  • Excellent project and time management skills.

Additional requirements include extensive travel, a valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 80 pounds, and standing or walking for 30% of the workday.

The offered pay may vary based on location, qualifications, and experience. The role is also eligible for performance bonuses or commissions, with comprehensive benefits including medical, retirement, and paid time off.
