Job summary

The New Mexico Meat & Poultry Inspection Division seeks a Supervisor to oversee in-plant inspectors and coordinate daily operations across facilities in the northern region. The role involves planning schedules, stepping in for staff, and ensuring compliance with meat and poultry regulations.

Ideal candidates will have a related science degree or six years combined education/experience, travel readiness, and strong communication skills for fieldwork and reporting to upper management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related science preferred; six years combined education/experience may substitute for degree.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver's License; Defensive Driving Course within 6 months of hire.
• Food safety training in HACCP and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise NMLB in-plant inspectors.
• Create schedules for in-plant inspection coverage.
• Fill in for in-plant personnel when needed.
• Investigate violations of Meat & Poultry Inspection Acts and NM statutes.
• Document violations and report to upper management.
• Conduct surveillance of firms and individuals for compliance.
• Do daily, weekly and monthly reports for upper management.
• Conduct Food Safety Assessments as needed.
