CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE

This non‑exempt job classification is responsible for ensuring execution of efficient crew production, job quality, exceptional customer service, and employee safety; perform related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Oversees multiple field operations crews (e.g., maintenance, construction, irrigation, snow, enhancements);
  • keeps Operations Manager informed about customer issues;
  • works with Foremen to perform all specifications based on contract, quality standards, and budget terms;
  • communicates well with others (e.g., Account Managers, Foremen, customers);
  • manages all enhancement jobs;
  • operates landscape equipment (e.g., roto‑tiller, trencher, auger, skid steer, front end loader, backhoe loader, hydro‑seeder, mulch blower, mowers, hedge trimmer) safely;
  • manages plant materials at the job site (e.g., preparation, planting, clean‑up);
  • ensures all job quality performance expectations are met in accordance with company standards;
  • handles chemicals (e.g., fertilizers, containers, SDS) properly;
  • monitors and programs irrigation controllers;
  • understands proper pest and weed control methods;
  • ensures all extra work is reported to Operations Manager daily;
  • understands the relationship between job quality and customer service, satisfaction, and retention;
  • oversees an optimal yard departure routine;
  • ensures all job responsibilities are performed in accordance with company protocol;
  • monitors yard arrival tasks (e.g., vehicle parking, unloading debris, storing tools);
  • tracks efficiency standards;
  • listens to customers attentively and satisfies their concerns from their perspective;
  • completes all required administrative paperwork timely, correctly, and legibly;
  • identifies potential enhancements work;
  • builds lasting relationships with customers;
  • works with Account Managers to solve customer problems quickly, with adequate follow‑up;
  • role models safety principles and PPE usage;
  • treats others with respect, collaboration, and support in such a way that work relationships are improved and morale is increased;
  • ensures training programs are available to employees and that certifications are obtained and kept current
  • oversees the Company training programs;
  • makes minor repairs to equipment;
  • works with Foreman regarding crew compositions, scheduling, material, and equipment allocation;
  • attends meetings;
  • orders materials as needed or communicates with Account Managers and vendors to obtain materials and equipment for timely project completion;
  • ensures all work crews are properly staffed at all times;
  • ensures compliance with all aspects of the company’s safety program;
  • understands the contribution safety makes to employee well‑being, team efficiency, and gross margin;
  • conducts and/or supervises weekly tailgate meetings with crews;
  • tracks all labor hours for each job;
  • trains, coaches, disciplines, and motivates staff; and
  • provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work‑site partners and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes: at least two (2) years of professional landscape and grounds management experience similar to that described above.

SPECIAL NOTES, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Pre‑employment: Incumbents must sign the Confidentiality, Non‑disclosure, and Non‑solicitation Agreement prior to their first day on the job.

License: A valid driver’s license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this job classification, is required at the time of appointment.

Language: Basic bilingual English and Spanish skills are required of this classification.

Certifications: The OSHA 10‑hour certification must be attained within the first 90 days of employment.

Working Conditions: Work is predominantly conducted outdoors, exposed to varying temperatures, weather conditions, and noise levels; exposure to dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents. Some work is conducted in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer screen exposure.

Background Investigation: Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation and/or drug test.

Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.
