Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp in Towanda, PA seeks an Engineer to provide field engineering and technical support for maintenance, construction, testing and commissioning of substation equipment up to 500kV. The role involves extensive field work outside of the office and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidates should have a BS in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering (ABET) with FE certificate preferred; 3–5+ years experience; willingness to travel; strong communication and problem-solving

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSCE, BSME) from an ABET accredited institution is required.
• FE Certificate preferred.
• Minimum 3 years engineering experience; 5 years if BS in Engineering for Engineer IV.
• Experience with substation equipment design, maintenance or testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe workplace and comply with industry regulations.
• Commission new transmission substation equipment prior to release.
• Develop check-out guides, review test results and energization plans.
• Provide onsite technical support during preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Lead field investigations and prepare technical reports.
