Job summary

FirstEnergy Corp is seeking field engineers to support maintenance, testing, and commissioning of substations up to 500kV, including power transformers, circuit breakers, CCVTs, Cap Banks, SVCs, relays, and SCADA systems. This role involves 90%+ field work at substations and service centers across PA locations.

Engineer II–V levels require ABET-accredited degrees; FE certificate is preferred, and a PE license or equivalent is considered. Some travel is required.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree required in electrical, civil or mechanical engineering.
• FE Certificate preferred.
• PE license or equivalent experience considered.
• 2+ years engineering experience required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and adhere to regulations.
• Commission and test substation equipment up to 500 kV.
• Provide field engineering support at substations and during maintenance.
• Travel within the FirstEnergy system, including overnight stays.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSCE, BSME) ABET accredited

PE License

FE Certificate

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology ABET accredited

Non-ABET Bachelor's with advanced degree in relevant field ABET accredited program
