The Field Service Controller will directly supervise the shop accounting team and collaborate closely with the VP Controller, General Manager, and cross‑functional leaders. The ideal candidate is both strategic and tactical—comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also advising leadership on financial performance and operational improvements.

What You'll Do
Financial Reporting & Performance Management
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead the month‑end close process for service shop operations, including account reconciliations and intercompany settlements.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, variance analysis, and operational dashboards.
  • Maintain key reporting metrics, including A/R aging and 13‑week cash forecasts.
Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Identify, assess, and remediate internal control gaps across field operations.
  • Standardize accounting practices and procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Oversee controls related to inventory management, payroll, cash handling, and authorization levels.
  • Manage, develop, and support the field accounting team responsible for A/P, A/R, inventory, banking, and related functions.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and reinforce a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Systems, Audit & Strategic Projects
  • Support ERP implementations and system integrations within field operations.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support tax and sales tax reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a subject‑matter expert for Field Service Accounting and partner with Operations leadership on performance optimization initiatives.
What Success Looks Like
  • Accurate and on‑time monthly financial close and reporting.
  • Reduced inventory variance and improved VMI controls.
  • Strengthened financial discipline and operational transparency across field locations.
Required Qualifications
  • CPA (active license required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant accounting or financial leadership experience
  • Proven experience working within operational, multi‑location, or field‑based environments
  • Expert understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and internal controls
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with major ERP systems
  • Strong communication, leadership presence, and ability to collaborate across functions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and drive outcomes independently
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting audits and ERP implementations/system transitions
