Job summary

RMS Energy Co, LLC is seeking a Field Service Technician I in Houston, TX. You will test, maintain, and commission low to high voltage systems at power plants and industrial sites across the country, handling relays, transformers, SCADA, and safety procedures.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with field tests and relay logic while supporting commissioning activities, with opportunities to mentor newer technicians and grow with a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of power systems testing, troubleshooting, or commissioning.
• Experience with megohmmeters, TTRs, insulation testers.
• Familiarity with PowerDB or similar test documentation software.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E and OSHA 1910.269 field safety standards.
• Able to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, and collect data on low to high voltage systems.
• Run standard field tests (TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot).
• Test relays and troubleshoot control circuits and protection schemes.
• Support commissioning activities and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Read and interpret schematics and diagrams.
• Communicate with customers on-site and provide updates.
