ANDRITZ Schuler Incorporated in North America seeks a field service technician to provide on-site troubleshooting, assembly and startup of Schuler presses, and customer training.

You will read prints and schematics, perform mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs, and maintain strong customer relationships while delivering quality service, safety, and timely reporting on field activities. Willingness to travel across US, Canada and Mexico is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
  • Journeyman card is required.
  • Experience reading blueprints, drawings and schematics.
  • Willingness to travel in US, Canada and Mexico (100% travel).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or assemble Schuler products and equipment and various assemblies of parts.
  • Maintain familiarity with general machine assembly, including fluid technology.
  • Assemble via drawings, specifications, bill of materials and through written and verbal instruction.
  • Develop knowledge of Schuler Standards and Schuler Service Manual formats.
  • Assist Schuler affiliates in determining required repair or spare parts at customers.
  • Perform and document Press Preventative Maintenance Inspections and help develop PM protocols as required.
  • Submit field reports and/or documents as required by the Field Operations Manager in a timely manner.
  • Report any perceived unsafe operating condition on Schuler Presses in operation.
  • Act responsibly and cooperate with others to solve tasks in the field.
  • May perform basic electrical work within the normal scope of repairs.
  • Advise customers and representatives of upgrade opportunities within the area.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

To assist customers with on-site trouble-shooting and repair of existing Schuler equipment or the assembly and startup of new Schuler presses, as well as customer training. Also, establish a solid relationship with customers and provide a point of contact for technical support within the company. Applies mechanical and hydraulic knowledge to test, troubleshoot and repair systems and equipment. Read prints, drawings and schematics and preforms basic calculations. Supports service sales by identifying and presenting various products, parts, and services as defined by group objectives. Maintains and develops strong customer relationships to insure positive customer service satisfaction measurements.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair or assemble Schuler products and equipment and various assemblies of parts of various types and sizes. Technicians will be required to perform mechanical, assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly and test functions.
  • Maintain familiarity with general machine assembly, including fluid technology, via training at SIC or at other Schuler operations.
  • To be able to assemble via drawings, specifications, bill of materials and through written and verbal instruction.
  • Develop knowledge of Schuler Standards and Schuler Service Manual formats.
  • Assist Schuler affiliates in determining required repair or spare parts at customers.
  • Perform and document Press Preventative Maintenance Inspections and help develop PM protocols as required.
  • Submit field reports and/or documents as required by the Field Operations Manager in a timely manner.

  • Recommends service and preventative maintenance programs for customers of the Schuler group.
  • Recommends and supports quotes development for technical service and parts within SIC policies and practices.
  • Produce comprehensive and accurate service reports of activities and repairs to customer’s equipment.
  • Be available for service support on a 24-hour basis including holidays and weekends.
  • Provide receipts and details of costs to allow for accurate invoicing of our customers.
  • Insure that in all aspects of an assignment that the corporate commitment to quality, cost control, safety and customer service is maintained.
  • Must maintain a valid passport and driver’s license including a satisfactory driving record.
  • Participate in training for specific Schuler Presses and equipment and OSHA Federal and State Safety Requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree .
  • At least 2-5 year of related experience required.
  • Journeyman card
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic experience.
  • Preventative maintenance and machine troubleshoot experience
  • Able to read blueprints, drawings and schematics.
  • Valid Passport, Driver’s License
  • Willingness to travel in US, Canada and Mexico. This position is considered 100% travel.
