Role Summary

The Field Service Technician III will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess technical acumen and the ability to provide excellent customer service. If you're quick-thinking, proactive, communicative, and passionate about adventure, we want you on the team. You will work with internal partners daily to assist with service needs and coordinate with Service, Vehicle, Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic leader with excellent communication skills who fosters cross-functional interaction and champions continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-first approach, adaptability in ambiguous environments, and a creative, flexible mindset. Experience in automotive repair, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

1. Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety
2. Perform or assist with diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles
3. Support vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting
4. Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality
5. Handle parts operations such as ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory management
6. Stay updated with technical skills and training requirements
7. Support campaigns and containment initiatives
8. Maintain accurate expense reports
9. Work with high quality and efficiency with minimal supervision
10. Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment
11. Provide field service support to the Service organization
12. Maintain professionalism in a customer-facing environment
13. Document repairs accurately
14. This role may transition from remote to on-site work, depending on location and company needs
15. Travel to support locations until local Service Centers open, including production plants
16. Operate remotely if applicable

Qualifications

1. HS Diploma or GED preferred
2. Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred
3. 5+ years' experience in automotive repair preferred
4. Proficient with hand and power tools
5. Comfortable with computers in Windows or Mac environments
6. Basic diagnosis and workflow knowledge
7. Ability to read electrical schematics
8. Limited diagnostic exposure
9. Understanding of high and low voltage electricity
10. Ability to perform tire repairs and vehicle alignments
11. Hybrid repair experience is a plus
12. Ability to diagnose and explain vehicle electronic communications like CAN Bus
13. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
14. Parts department and billing experience preferred
15. Experience with work order management systems
16. Start-up environment experience preferred

19. Strong organizational and time management skills
20. Physical ability to perform occupational tasks (up to 50 lbs)
21. Excellent hand coordination and communication skills

24. Availability for 40 hours/week, including weekends and holidays, with shifts possibly in evenings or overnights

*Night shift hours vary by location. Night shift technicians receive a 15% hourly differential between 6PM-6AM.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range: $36-$41 hourly (determined by experience and other factors)
