Job summary

SNC is seeking a Field Service Technician II to perform advanced maintenance, repair, and support on aerospace and defense equipment. You will install, operate, maintain, repair, and modify products, updating field equipment status and delivering onsite customer training.

You will mentor junior technicians, collaborate with engineering to resolve problems, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Occasional international travel is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of technician experience; higher degree may substitute.
  • Basic understanding of schematics, diagrams, manuals.
  • Experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
  • Willing to travel outside the continental US for extended periods.
  • Ability to deploy to OCONUS locations for extended times.
  • Meets DoD/Combatant Command deployment requirements.
  • Pass pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Willing to work extended hours, holidays, and shifts.
  • Must obtain a passport and travel visa if needed.
  • U.S. government security clearance required; processing provided.

Job description

The Field Service Technician II provides advanced technical maintenance, repair, and support services on equipment. This role requires expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, along with the ability to guide and support junior technicians. The technician will also collaborate closely with engineering teams to implement solutions and improve product performance. You'll be responsible for installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and modifying our products and updating and tracking the status of all field related equipment. You'll build and maintain effective relationships with our customers and provide them with onsite training.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced maintenance and repair tasks on aerospace and defense systems.
  • Lead the installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring adherence to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and collaborate with engineering teams for resolution.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior field service technicians.
  • Deliver detailed training sessions to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
  • Ensure all fieldwork complies with safety standards and regulations.
  • Manage and track inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Produce detailed technical reports for internal and customer review.
  • Travel to customer sites as necessary, including potential international locations.

Please be advised that this position may require deployment for a period of up to 90 days, depending on mission needs. Deployment is not guaranteed and will be determined at the discretion of the supervisor or management, or as otherwise specified.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Basic understanding of technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
  • Experience using troubleshooting techniques.
  • Understanding of electrical wiring concepts.
  • Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required .
  • Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
  • Ability to obtain a current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally .
  • A United States Government Security Clearance is required for employment. Applicants who do not currently have a USG security clearance are welcome to apply and, if selected, will be processed for a USG security clearance by SNC prior to employment. Employment will begin once the USG security clearance is granted. If applicant is unable to obtain USG security clearance, the offer of employment will be withdrawn.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Associate's degree in a related field of study.
  • Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
  • Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
  • Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pitot Static equipment gauges.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
  • Experience with software and firmware updates for technical equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
