Job summary

USA Compression seeks a Field Service Technician to ensure safe, reliable operation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas compression equipment within an assigned territory. The role is field-based, handling preventive and corrective maintenance to keep midstream assets online.

The technician will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues, perform engine overhauls and commissioning, and respond to call-outs.

Qualifications

• Solid communication skills with field personnel, vendors, and colleagues.
• Mechanical aptitude with engines, rotating equipment or heavy machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work independently in outdoor, remote environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on natural gas compression equipment (engines, compressors, coolers).
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct engine overhauls, compressor rebuilds, and component replacements as needed.
• Complete start‑ups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities safely and efficiently.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions; identify abnormal trends and escalate.
• Respond to call-outs and emergency situations to restore equipment functionality.
• Ensure work complies with company standards, OEM specs, and regulatory requirements.
• Submit accurate maintenance reports, timesheets, and expense paperwork daily.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, and engineering teams to support equipment needs.
