Ziegler CAT is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician focused on compact construction equipment. You will diagnose and repair equipment in the field; a company truck, phone, and computer are provided to maximize uptime.

The role requires 2+ years of diesel equipment repair, a 2-year technical degree or high school diploma, and knowledge of hydraulics, electrical, and fuel systems. Competitive pay with strong benefits and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable experience.
• 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably in the field.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Possesses the ability to diagnose equipment without supervision; is also able to understand and communicate schematics.
• Desire to provide exceptional customer service with a strong attention to detail.
• Must be an excellent problem solver who possesses modern communication and computer skills.
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Willing and able to respond to emergency after-hour calls, as directed by supervisor.
• Must operate equipment safely.
• Own mechanic tool set.
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
• Obtain a DOT medical certification card.
• Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical.
• This role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair compact construction equipment (track loaders, wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, etc.).
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner; company truck, phone and computer are provided.
• Using independent judgment, assumes responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair on mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area and a professional service vehicle.
• Positively interacts with manager and team to satisfy customer needs.
• Provides assistance to other technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs.
• Uses modern communication methods to convey job status and exceed customer needs.
• Documents labor, parts used, and description of work performed for billing.
• Willing to respond to after-hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor.
• Identifies and communicates the need for parts for inventory.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required.
