Field Service Technician – Communications

Job summary

Jobtailor in Chicago requires an onsite field service engineer to support Stryker Communications products across an assigned territory. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain communications equipment at healthcare facilities, and manage service calls from opening to close while ensuring quality documentation.

You will train hospital staff and colleagues, coordinate with Operations and R&D on complex issues, and uphold FDA/MDR reporting requirements in a regulated healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• 2 years of installation or production line experience with Stryker Communications or 2–3 years of industry experience with relevant field service experience.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with surgeons, hospital staff, nurses, and biomedical personnel.
• Ability to prioritize issues.
• Computer literacy.
• Functional with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.
• Basic electronic and mechanical aptitude.
• Skilled at cable termination of standard digital and analog industry connectors.
• Knowledge of video, audio, and data communications systems.
• Knowledge of OR etiquette and basic hospital procedure.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to review printed materials.
• Demonstrated fine motor skills.
• Ability to use sophisticated test and office computer equipment.
• Ability to work with large pieces of equipment.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently

Responsibilities

• Keep leaders and team members informed of significant issues, risks, and technical challenges.
• Exercise authority to ensure quality and compliance requirements and make operational decisions.
