Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. is seeking a field service engineer to install, commission, maintain and repair power transformers in challenging field conditions across the United States.

You will read electrical and mechanical drawings, perform on-site and remote service activities, and ensure equipment reliability and safe operation while adhering to regulatory guidelines and corporate standards. This role requires up to 85% travel and physical readiness.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree with 2 years of professional work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 5 years of professional work experience.
• Broad knowledge of transformer field service operations and transformer field testing.
• Familiarity with transformer installation and assembly, vacuum and oil processing, and internal transformer components.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel up to 85%.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site and remote service activities including installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, upgrades, retrofits, and replacements
• Support customer operations by addressing technical issues and anticipating service needs
• Read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, instructions, and technical manuals
• Complete internal transformer work such as bushing connections, lead clearance, tapping, crimping, taping, and contoured joints
• Repair, re-gasket, assemble, and disassemble transformer equipment as directed
• Operate and maintain vacuum oil processing and oil handling equipment with direction, including completing required logs
• Coordinate logistics for service jobs, including tools, resources, and spare parts
• Contribute ideas for product and process improvements that enhance operations and customer service
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
