Job summary

Ziegler CAT is hiring an experienced Field Service Technician to service compact construction equipment across our Iowa operations. You will diagnose and repair track loaders, wheel loaders, mini excavators, and more, ensuring maximum customer uptime with a company vehicle and tools provided.

The role requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years of diesel repair, and strong diagnostic skills. Candidates must have a clean driving record and be able to pass DOT screening.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable experience.
• 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience, preferably in the field.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems.
• Ability to diagnose equipment without supervision and understand schematics.
• Own mechanic tool set and maintain a clean driving record.
• DOT medical certification and pre-employment drug screen are required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair compact construction equipment including track loaders, wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers.
• Respond to customer needs quickly to maximize value for work performed in the field; company truck, phone, and computer are provided.
• Maintain safe maintenance and repair across mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems.
• Keep work area clean and safe, and maintain a professional service vehicle.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 to $51.00

Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location. Along with competitive pay, full time positions are benefits eligible which includes:

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair compact construction equipment including track loaders, wheel loaders, mini excavators, aerial lifts, tele-handlers, among other light to medium duty equipment
• Responds to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed in the field; a company truck, phone, and computer are provided
• Using independent judgment, assumes responsibility for the safe maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment, which involve mechanical, hydraulic, gas, diesel, and electrical systems
• Maintains a clean and safe work area, adheres to all safety procedures; maintains a service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Positively interacts with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs
• Provides assistance to other technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairs
• Utilize modern communication methods both internal and external, to ensure job status is conveyed in a timely manner and the customer’s needs are being exceeded
• Documents labor, parts used, and description of work performed assuring that work orders can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer
• Willing to respond to after hour emergency calls as directed by supervisor
• Identifies and communicates the need for parts for inventory
• Performs other duties as assigned/required

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma and several years of comparable experience

• Possesses the ability to diagnose equipment without supervision; is also able to understand and communicate schematics
• Desire to provide exceptional customer service with a strong attention to detail
• Must be an excellent problem solver who possesses modern communication and computer skills
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Willing and able to respond to emergency after-hour calls, as directed by supervisor
• Must operate equipment safely
• Own mechanic tool set
• Must have and maintain a clean driving record
• Obtain a DOT medical certification card
• Pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen & physical
• This role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirement
