Job summary

Dematic Corporation is seeking a Regional Field Service Technician to provide service, repair, and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems. The role is travel-heavy, with 100% travel across North America and occasional weekend work, reporting to the Field Service Manager to maximize system availability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Trade school graduate or two-year Associate's degree in a mechanical or electrical technician program.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment.
• Experience with material handling equipment; AGV/AS/RS or conveyors is highly prized.
• Ability to travel 80%+ of the time; extended periods away from home may be required.
• Willingness to work off hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Participates in semi-complex equipment trials, repairs, and overhauls.
• Train customers on semi-complex products and services.
• Perform semi-complex maintenance on tools and test equipment; document inspections and repairs.
• Respond to semi-complex service calls.
• Assess product/equipment performance from field support data and suggest improvements.
• Complete semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional areas.
• Identify problems as they occur and take appropriate corrective actions; refer complex issues as needed.

Job description

Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician for our Field Service team. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair as well as service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position has a heavy responsibility for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for Customer use and to ensure that Customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably by an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. This role will be 100% travel.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $36 to $38 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, and experience.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What you will do in this role:

• Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls.
• Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services.
• Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.
• Participates in responding to semi-complex service calls.
• Participates in the assessment of semi-complex product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.
• Performs semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional area.
• Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
• Refers complex, unusual problems to others.

What We are Looking For:

• Trade school graduate or two-year Associate's degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
• Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. The successful candidate must have some work experience with material handling equipment. Service experience with Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), or conveyors is highly prized.
• Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling. May be continuously away from home for as long as a month (offer travel expenses).
• Must be willing to be available during off hours and travel accordingly.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
• Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations.
• Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.
• Must have knowledge in the use of personal computers for word processing, database functions and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration required.
• Working experience with troubleshooting Programable Logistic Controllers (PLC) is required.
