Job summary

Power Solutions Group (PSG), a Sunbelt Solomon company, seeks a Field Service Technician to inspect, test, and maintain electrical power distribution equipment across various sites. You will work hands-on, solve complex electrical issues, and deliver exceptional service to clients.

You will travel locally and regionally, handle outages and emergencies, and document results while adhering to safety protocols and standards. Strong communication and safety focus required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with technical training or associate degree in electrical trades preferred.
• NETA 2 certification preferred; alternative is 3+ years of relevant electrical field experience.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to customer service.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics.
• Skilled with industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools.
• Strong safety awareness including PPE, lockout/tagout, and hazard recognition.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel to job sites and work extended/irregular hours as needed.
• Eligibility to work in the US without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Independently inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment.
• Perform electrical testing on transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, and related equipment.
• Interpret diagrams and schematics to support testing and maintenance.
• Operate industrial test equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Communicate results and issues to customers and internal stakeholders.
• Follow safety standards including PPE and lockout/tagout; complete required paperwork.

As a Field Service Technician, you'll play an important role in supporting our customers by inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing electrical power distribution equipment. You'll work hands-on in a variety of environments, apply your technical expertise to solve complex electrical challenges, and deliver exceptional service to our customers.

• Independently inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Perform electrical testing on transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, and related power distribution equipment.
• Identify equipment issues and assist in diagnosing electrical problems and determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics to support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
• Operate industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Respond to customer needs and occasional emergency service calls with professionalism, urgency, and a strong customer-service focus.
• Communicate testing results, equipment conditions, and identified issues to customers, senior technicians, and internal stakeholders.
• Follow company and customer safety standards, including PPE, lockout/tagout, hazard awareness, and established electrical safety procedures.
• Complete accurate daily reports, test documentation, service records, and other required paperwork.
• Properly manage, check in/out, maintain, and care for company tools and test equipment.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a field service team.
• Extensive travel locally and regionally, based on business and customer needs.
• Overtime and work outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, may be required based on outages, emergency service calls, and project deadlines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or associate degree in electrical trades preferred.
• NETA 2 certification preferred; will substitute 3+ years of relevant work experience on commercial or industrial electrical projects.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics.
• Skilled in the use of industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools.
• Strong commitment to safety, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and hazard awareness.
