Job summary

Power Solutions Group (PSG), a Sunbelt Solomon company, seeks a Field Service Technician to inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and service electrical power distribution equipment across varied environments. You will work hands-on, applying technical expertise to solve complex electrical challenges and deliver exceptional service to customers.

The role requires traveling locally and regionally, lifting heavy loads, and extended hours during outages or emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or associate degree in electrical trades preferred.
• NETA 2 certification preferred; will substitute 3+ years of relevant work experience on commercial or industrial electrical projects
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Independently inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
• Perform electrical testing on transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, and related power distribution equipment.
• Identify equipment issues and assist in diagnosing electrical problems and determining appropriate corrective actions.
• Interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics to support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
• Operate industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Respond to customer needs and occasional emergency service calls with professionalism and urgency.
• Communicate testing results, equipment conditions, and identified issues to customers, senior technicians, and internal stakeholders.
• Follow company and customer safety standards, including PPE, lockout/tagout, hazard awareness, and established electrical safety procedures.
• Complete accurate daily reports, test documentation, service records, and other required paperwork.
• Properly manage, check in/out, maintain, and care for company tools and test equipment.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a field service team.
• Extensive travel locally and regionally, based on business and customer needs.
• Overtime and work outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, may be required based on outages, emergency service calls, and project deadlines.
