Job summary

Global Power Components is seeking a Field Service Technician to support our growing operations in the Wisconsin area. The role involves diagnosing, repairing and maintaining generators, engines and related equipment at customer sites and in our facility.

You will travel frequently (up to 75%) to customer locations, perform inspections, train customers on equipment use, and ensure safety and accurate records.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in electrical work, repair, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of generators, engines, or related equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment errors using electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and perform maintenance on equipment according to standard procedures.
  • Perform scheduled inspections to prevent failures, including load banking and voltage analysis.
  • Train customers on use of equipment and convey product value.
  • Maintain accurate service records, mileage, expenses and billable hours.
  • Follow safety requirements and communicate updates to Dispatch.
  • Travel up to 75% of the year to customer locations.
  • Handle equipment and inventory and maintain related records.

Overview

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures and modular metal enclosures for housing fully equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. The company recently moved operations into a newly renovated 300,000 sq. foot facility to support growth and industry leadership.

As a result of our expansion, we are looking for a Field Service Technician to join our growing team.

Qualifications
  • The qualified Field Service Technician will preferably have 2+ years of experience in electrical work, repair, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of generators, engines, or related equipment.
  • Ability to use electrical and mechanical aptitude to determine causes of equipment error
  • Ability to work independently as a Field Service Technician and make decisions with little guidance in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a valid Driver\'s License
Responsibilities
  • Gain proficiency in use of tools and standard procedures relating to diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing maintenance on equipment
  • Perform scheduled inspections on equipment to prevent future failure, including but not limited to load banking and analyzing voltage requirements
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and perform maintenance on equipment according to standard procedures in an efficient manner
  • Train and educate customers on use of equipment and value of products and services provided
  • Follow established expectations for communicating with Dispatch throughout the day regarding updates and next assignments
  • Maintain associated equipment and inventory
  • Maintain accurate records of all services performed, mileage, expenses, and bill-able hours
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and regulations
  • The Field Service Technician position reports to the GPC Operations Manager & (or) Production supervisor and travels frequently to customer locations within assigned geographic area.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the year. Methods of transportation may vary.
  • Frequently move objects up to 50 pounds
