Major Talent specializes in connecting Veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses, National Guard members, and Reservists with civilian career opportunities.

About the Role

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, troubleshooting equipment, solving problems, and working independently in the field. This position will primarily support generators, HVAC equipment, and related electrical/mechanical systems. You don't have to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone with the right electrical/mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, work ethic, and willingness to learn. Training will be provided to help the right person learn the equipment and become successful in the position.

Responsibilities
  • Service, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair generators, HVAC equipment, and related systems
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
  • Perform inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Use tools, testing equipment, and technical resources to identify and correct problems
  • Travel to customer locations to complete service calls
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment and service needs
  • Complete service documentation accurately and on time
  • Work independently while maintaining communication with the service and operations teams
  • Follow company safety procedures and service standards
  • Maintain and properly care for company-provided tools, equipment, and vehicle
Qualifications

Military experience involving electrical systems, generators, HVAC, power production, mechanical maintenance, aircraft maintenance, vehicle maintenance, AGE, facilities, engineering, or other hands-on technical career fields may translate well into this opportunity. If you're transitioning from the military and don't have direct civilian Field Service Technician experience, we still encourage you to apply. Relevant military technical experience and transferable skills will be considered.

Required Skills
  • Strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude
  • Hands-on experience working with equipment, machinery, electrical systems, HVAC, generators, automotive/diesel equipment, or similar systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn new equipment and technical processes
  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based environment
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Dependable, accountable, and safety-minded
  • Valid driver's license and clean background required
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned service area
Preferred Skills
  • Electricians and candidates with stronger electrical experience may qualify toward the higher end of the pay range.
  • Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude are also encouraged to apply. If you're mechanically inclined, comfortable working with tools and equipment, and have a good understanding of how mechanical systems work, your experience may translate well to this position.
  • Experience troubleshooting, repairing, or maintaining electrical/mechanical equipment, generators, HVAC systems, automotive equipment, machinery, or similar systems is a plus.
Pay range and compensation package

$26–$37/hour. Compensation will be based on experience and technical background. A company vehicle is provided for the position
