Field Service Technician – National Travel

Total Compensation: $75,000–$95,000

This includes a base salary of $60,000–$80,000, plus a $55/day per diem during travel (valued at $10,000–$14,000 annually), on-call pay of $100 every 8th week (~$600/year), and a company-provided phone. Travel is extensive—90–100%, with approximately 75% by air and 25% by car, with mileage reimbursed at $0.70 per mile when driving.

This role involves installing, starting up, training, and troubleshooting a wide range of electro-mechanical and electronic systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-sufficient, and customer-focused, with the ability to travel extensively across the U.S. and occasionally internationally.

This position is a great match for military veterans with experience in electronics, maintenance, mechanical systems, or field support operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and commission equipment at customer sites, including validation and start-up
• Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems in the field
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and recommend service intervals
• Train customer operators, maintenance teams, and engineers on equipment use
• Provide expert phone support and remote troubleshooting
• Communicate clearly with customers before and during on-site visits
• Maintain and track tools, spare parts, and service documentation
• Accurately log service activities, time, and materials
• Travel extensively, including overnight and occasional international assignments
• Maintain a professional appearance and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with computer-operated equipment and basic programming tools
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and problem-solve in the field
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Valid driver’s license required
