Job summary

Kapex Manufacturing LLC is seeking skilled technicians for field service and on-site machine maintenance. The role focuses on disassembly/reassembly of gear boxes and reduction units, with strong emphasis on precision measurement and adherence to drawings and tolerances.

The position involves travel to various job sites, supervision of on-site personnel, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. A minimum of five years in machine assembly or related field experience is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in machine assembly or field service.
• Experience with disassembly and reassembly of machines, especially gear boxes and reduction units.
• Proficient with measuring devices (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gage blocks).
• Able to read 2D/3D drawings and assembly drawings.
• Some knowledge of hydraulics is a plus.
• Attention to detail, problem solving, and reliable performance.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and reassemble equipment in the field.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnosing field problems.
• Travel to and from job sites; maintain travel and living expense logs.
• Supervise customers' employees during assembly and training as needed.
• Ensure safety, provide technical reports, and complete service documentation.

Job description

• Minimum 5 years of experience in machine assembly, and/or field experience work
• Proven Self-Motivation Experience.

Qualification:

The candidate must be experienced in the disassembly and reassembly of machines.

Knowledge and experience with industrial mixing equipment a plus.

Knowledge and experience in using measuring devices such as micrometers, digital height gages, gage blocks, calipers etc. is mandatory.

Knowledge of optical alignment equipment is a plus.

Knowledge and experience in reading and understanding 2D and 3D manufacturing drawings and assembly drawings is required.

Knowledge in the setting up of operating equipment with proper clearances etc. is required.

Some knowledge of the use of hydraulics is a plus.

Technical skills, problem solving ability, attention to detail and reliable performance are necessary attributes for this job position.

JOB DUTIES & GOALS:

• Disassemble and reassemble of equipment in the field.
• Mechanical troubleshooting
• Evaluate, disassemble, and diagnose equipment problems in the field.
• Travel to and from job sites is required.
• Maintain data logs on all travel and living expenses.
• Repair existing equipment in the field.
• In many cases supervise the customers employees doing the physical work.
• Resolve any technical assembly problems
• Communicate Technical Findings and complete detailed service reports for customers.
• On occasion work in house on gear box rebuilds etc.
• Perform other misc. Duties as assigned

• Normally 8-hour days
• May require overtime on occasion
• Number of days per month vary by job

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Saginaw, MI 48603: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
• May be able to perform most work from residence since it is primarily field service work, but will require some work at the Saginaw location.

Directly work on the disassembly and reassembly of gear boxes, as well as torque limiter couplings. Supervise employees with less experience assure maximum production efficiency that meets quality specifications in a safe manner as per schedules, standard operating procedures, and company goals and policies.

Knowledge in the setting up of bearings for proper end play and checking gear teeth for proper contact surfaces is also necessary.

Some knowledge of the use of hydraulics is a plus.
