Job summary

Xylem is seeking a Field Service Technician to support installation, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of Flygt submersible wastewater pumps at customer sites in the Sacramento area. You will troubleshoot, service, and repair equipment, interpret schematics, and ensure safe operations with company trucks and crane-equipped service vehicles.

The role involves daily local travel and up to 50% overnight travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of technical work experience preferred.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, electrical systems, pumps, industrial equipment, automotive, diesel, HVAC, or related technical fields is a plus.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to troubleshoot and identify equipment issues.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and mobile devices.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work safely in industrial and customer environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on submersible wastewater pumps.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on pumps and control panels.
• Read and interpret basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Assist with equipment startups, commissioning, and emergency service calls.
• Operate and maintain a company service truck equipped with a crane and outriggers.
• Safely operate shop equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Utilize company-provided hand and power tools to complete service work.
• Document service activities accurately using Xylem's work order management system.
