This position is responsible for the on‑site installation, maintenance, and repair of food production machinery and equipment. The Field Service Technician plays a key role in managing equipment installations, conducting site surveys, and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. A strong focus is placed on ensuring that installations are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company industry standards.

This role requires extensive hands‑on experience with food production equipment, strong problem‑solving abilities, and the capability to work independently in the field. Proficiency in reading technical prints and clearly explaining installation procedures is essential.

The Field Service Technician must also demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, contractors, and internal teams. A willingness to travel frequently, work extended hours when needed, follow strict safety protocols, and consistently deliver high-quality workmanship is critical for success in this position.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage the on‑site installation, maintenance, and repair of food production machinery and equipment.
  • Promptly troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to production systems to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Work directly with clients to understand their needs and deliver specialized technical support.
  • Ensure all field operations are performed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Accurately document all work performed, maintaining detailed records to ensure traceability of installation and repair activities.
  • Conduct equipment inspections as needed to prevent unexpected downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Provide on‑call support for emergency service needs at customer facilities.
  • Conduct individual field visits to review and discuss design details directly with clients.
  • Offer technical and warranty support both remotely and on‑site, as required.
  • Continuously verify customer requirements throughout the duration of each project.
  • Collaborate with Engineering staff to ensure high‑quality project outcomes.
  • Communicate project updates to the Field Service Manager as needed to ensure alignment and progress tracking.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Keep management and sales teams informed on project status, and promptly report any significant issues or delays.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with Engineers, Designers, and other departments to resolve questions or concerns.

  • Exhibit punctuality, responsibility, and reliability in all aspects of the role.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to equipment design or manufacturing processes.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with customers regarding machinery performance and product quality.
  • Independently collect information from customers, including verifying dimensions and addressing technical questions.
  • Notify Sales and Applications teams of any changes or deviations from the original Sales Order.
  • Coordinate work and travel with the installation schedule to meet project deadlines.
  • Understand and apply industry‑specific standards and regulations, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Be flexible with scheduling, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends when required to meet production or installation timelines.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and quality workmanship.
  • This position prioritizes practical, hands‑on experience in the field over formal education, making it ideal for individuals with significant on‑site mechanical or technical expertise.
  • Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

Manager Responsibilities

Physical Requirements

QualificationsEducation Requirement
  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus but not required.
  • Technical certifications in mechanical systems, industrial maintenance, or related trades (e.g., millwright, machinist, or HVAC certifications preferred).
  • Ongoing continuing education or training in safety standards (e.g., OSHA), food industry regulations (e.g., GMP), or equipment-specific is preferred.
Skills Requirement
  • Willingness to travel frequently to various food production facilities and work in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate company vehicles as needed.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Field Engineer or technician within the food production or processing industry.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience working with food production machinery and equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities, with focus on delivering reliable and high‑quality solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and internal teams.
  • Capable of working independently while efficiently managing multiple tasks on‑site.
  • Solid understanding of machining and general manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical prints and develop floor layouts to support equipment installations.
  • Skilled in providing accurate and detailed on‑site feedback to Engineers and Designers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and email communication tools.
  • Able to maintain strong working relationships with all departments and coworkers across the organization.
  • Effective communicator with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks based on project timelines and needs.
Experience
