Job Description

ABM Industries is seeking a Field Service Technician (NETA 2 or equivalent experience) to join our Electrical Power Services team. The technician is responsible for the safe and efficient installation and testing of electrical power distribution equipment for customers in the assigned territory. The role involves approximately 25% travel, working independently and with a crew, managing routine to complex tasks, record-keeping, evaluating test data, and preparing field service reports. Level 3/IV Technicians will also mentor, train, develop, and supervise Level 1 and 2 trainees and assistants.

Position Summary

Pay: $40.00-$53.00 per hour plus paid overtime. The listed pay is a base hourly rate; actual offer depends on experience, skills, location, and market data. ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package. For details, visit ABM 2025 Employee Benefits | Staff & Management.

Essential Functions

• Travel to customer sites for inspection, testing, troubleshooting, start-up, and data collection on electrical systems.
• Supervise Trainees, Assistants, and Technicians in electrical testing duties.
• Mentor, train, and supervise Level 1 and 2 NETA Trainees and Assistant Technicians.
• Observe testing, assign work, ensure consistency across test technicians.
• Track project scope completion and communicate with management.
• Maintain, test, repair, rebuild, and replace switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and other electrical equipment.
• Conduct relay calibration, power metering, motor control testing, generator controls, and protection system testing.
• Perform hazard analyses, document test results, and complete reports.
• Rotate emergency on-call duties and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Assist in sales as a technical expert in electrical testing and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in electrical testing.
• Experience working with a team and on projects.
• Knowledge of NFPA70E Electrical Safety standards.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
• Willingness to travel regionally (~25%).
• Knowledge of lockout/tag-out procedures and hazardous energy control.
• Clean driving record and drug-free status.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.
• NETA Level 2, 3, IV, NICET certification or equivalent.
• NERC experience is a plus.
