Job summary

Galco is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and optimize industrial automation at customer sites across Michigan and the Midwest. You will troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, and motor controls, and perform root-cause analyses to prevent downtime.

Travel is required to customer facilities for emergency service, planned maintenance, and startups. A technical degree and hands-on electronics troubleshooting experience are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance, field service, automation, or electronics troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with PLC troubleshooting, VFDs, servo systems, motor controls, industrial networks, and electrical schematics.
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic theory.
• Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial automation and control systems at customer facilities.
• Diagnose electrical and electronic failures in PLCs, VFDs, servo systems, HMIs, motors, and CNC equipment.
• Perform root cause analysis to identify the failure and underlying issues causing downtime.
• Use electrical test equipment and diagnostic tools to evaluate system performance.
• Support equipment startups, commissioning, and system optimization projects.
• Document findings, repairs, and recommendations in a professional and customer-friendly manner.
• Partner with customers' maintenance and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and production performance.
• Travel to customer locations for emergency service, planned maintenance, and troubleshooting assignments.

What You'll Do

• Work closely with Galco's repair, engineering, and parts teams to provide complete solutions.
• Travel to customer locations for emergency service, planned maintenance, and troubleshooting assignments.

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance, field service, automation, or electronics troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with:
