Job summary

WOW! is hiring a Field Service Technician to install and troubleshoot internet, phone, and video services in customers’ homes. You’ll perform installations, upgrades, and relocations, and troubleshoot end-to-end from customer equipment to the network tap.

You will educate customers on device usage, ensure service quality, and maintain logs and plans. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work flexible hours are required for field-driven responsibilities.

• Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• Comfort using hand tools and testing equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to read maps and navigate service areas.

Responsibilities

• As a Field Service Technician, install, maintain, and troubleshoot WOW! services in assigned neighborhoods.
• Complete installations, reconnections, upgrades, downgrades, and service changes.
• Install/relocate outlets, modems, converters, wiring, and related hardware.
• Troubleshoot service issues from customer equipment to the network tap.
• Test and verify signal levels, quality, and performance; perform basic network tests.
• Educate customers on equipment usage and services; maintain service records.

Your responsibilities will include:Completing new installations, reconnections, disconnections, upgrades, downgrades, and service changesInstalling and relocating outlets, modems, converters, wiring, and related equipmentTroubleshooting service issues from the customer’s equipment to the network tapTesting, maintaining, splicing, repairing, and replacing coaxial cable and related componentsPerforming network troubleshooting, including ping tests, traceroutes, and speed testsChecking signal levels, picture quality, voltage, and system performanceIdentifying and correcting causes of signal degradation or service interruptionsEducating customers on how to properly use their equipment and servicesMonitoring and repairing system, drop, and in-home signal leakageMaintaining system security by securing unused ports, drops, and pedestalsCompleting work orders, service records, logs, and reportsMaintaining assigned tools, equipment, inventory, and company vehicleFollowing WOW!, FCC, NESC, and OSHA safety and technical standardsDelivering friendly, professional, and dependable customer serviceSupporting and training other employees when neededCompleting other duties as assignedWhat You’ll BringStrong customer service and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information in an easy-to-understand wayThe ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond to time-sensitive issuesComfort using hand tools, testing equipment, and mobile applicationsThe ability to accurately maintain records, work orders, and service documentationThe ability to read maps and navigate assigned service areasAvailability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shiftsA valid driver’s license and a good driving recordExperience using signal level meters, volt-OHM meters, spectrum analyzers, or similar testing equipment is helpful.Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsThis is an active, hands-on position performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of environments.
