Job summary

ZEISS Group in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, repair, troubleshoot and calibrate the world’s most advanced measuring instruments at customer sites across the region.

You will travel 70–90% of the time, receive a company vehicle, tools and training, and have opportunities for rapid promotion after training. The role requires lifting up to 75 pounds, strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School graduate or GED or equivalent.
• Tech School or associate/bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• Or training/experience from a Military Technical School.
• Prior experience with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
• Microsoft Windows operating knowledge.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.
• Willing to work at least 50 hours per week (overtime).
• Able to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
• Valid Driver License required.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, troubleshoot, service and calibrate advanced measuring instruments at customer sites.
• Travel to customer sites in your region; 70–90% travel expected.
• Document service work and maintain accurate service records.
• Work independently while representing the company in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Location and Region

Position will work in Knoxville, TN and surrounding area.

Here's What You'll Do

• Engage in a comprehensive ~3 month in field and classroom training program to ensure you have the skills and tools to be successful.
• Once trained, you will travel to customer sites in your region to Install, Repair, Troubleshoot, Service and Calibrate the most advanced measuring instruments in the world.
• Work hands on to learn new skills on high tech CMM's (Coordinate Measuring Machines) utilizing mechanical and electronic aptitude.
• Document service work and maintain accurate service records.
• Work independently while representing the company in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

What We Are Looking For

• Minimum, High School graduate, completed GED or equivalent.
• Or, Tech School, associate, or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, and the like.
• Or, Training and experience from a Military Technical School.
• Prior experience working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
• Microsoft operating system knowledge is required.
• Capable of unassisted physical lift of one article weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Able and willing to work minimum of 50 hours per work week. Regular + OT.
• Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
• Valid Driver License required.

Nice to Haves

• Previous experience installing and troubleshooting industrial electronics, machines, or computer systems.
• Previous CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred however not required.

Variables Include

• Competitive Base pay
• OT: Average OT is 10 hours a week and paid out at time and half - we basically pay for your travel time!
• Annual bonus program: - eligible for an additional bonus at the end of the year.
• Company vehicle - can use it for personal use as well!
