Job summary

ZEISS is seeking a Field Service Technician to travel to customer sites, install, service, troubleshoot, and calibrate advanced measuring instruments. The role begins with a ~3 month training program, followed by region-based field work.

You will document service work and maintain records while representing ZEISS in a fast-paced environment. Qualified candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, plus technical training in electronics or industrial mechanics.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate or GED completed.
• Technical discipline like Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or similar preferred.
• Military technical training accepted as equivalent.

Responsibilities

Location/Region: Position will work in Torrington, CT and surrounding area.

Here's what you'll do:

• Engage in a comprehensive ~3 month in field and classroom training program to ensure you have the skills and tools to be successful.
• Once trained, you will travel to customer sites in your region to Install, Repair, Troubleshoot, Service and Calibrate the most advanced measuring instruments in the world.
• Work hands on to learn new skills on high tech CMM's (Coordinate Measuring Machines) utilizing mechanical and electronic aptitude.
• Document service work and maintain accurate service records.
• Work independently while representing the company in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

What we are looking for:

• Minimum, High School graduate, completed GED or equivalent.
• Or, Tech School, associate, or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as, Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, and the like.
• Or, Training and experience from a Military Technical School.
• Prior experience working with hand tools and basic electrical test equipment.
• Microsoft operating system knowledge is required.
• Capable of unassisted physical lift of one article weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Able and willing to work minimum of 50 hours per work week. Regular + OT.
• Ability to work in an industrial production shop floor environment.
• Valid Driver License required.

Nice to haves:

• Previous experience installing and troubleshooting industrial electronics, machines, or computer systems.
• Previous CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) installation and troubleshooting experience is preferred however not required.

Variables include:

• Base pay ranged from $53,000 - $66,000 ($25.48 to $31.73 per hour)
• OT: Average OT is 10 hours a week and paid out at time and half - we basically pay for your travel time!
• Annual bonus program: - eligible for an additional bonus at the end of the year.
• Company vehicle - can use it for personal use as well!
