Job Overview

Wastequip WRX Compactor Services division has an immediate opportunity for a Field Service Technician to support our Houston, TX service operation. The role involves providing compactor repair services, maintenance, installation, and compactor rebuilding. The hourly pay rate is $30.00–$33.00, with higher pay for trash compactor experience. Shift hours are Monday–Friday 7:00a.m. – 5:30p.m., with on–call weekend rotation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on commercial trash compactors, balers, and other hydraulic and electrical equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Utilize basic welding and fabrication skills to repair and maintain equipment.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
• Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with customers and the service team.
• Provide training and support to junior technicians as needed.
• Travel throughout the service area in a company–supplied service truck for on–site repairs and maintenance, with minimal overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working on commercial trash compactors, balers, or similar hydraulic and electrical equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Basic welding skills.
• Basic fabrication skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
• Previous experience managing people preferred, as the position may grow into a leadership role.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred, but not required.
• Forklift certification preferred, but not required.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred, but not required.
