Nelson Stud Welding, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician in Hayward, CA. The role involves on-site service, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of rental fleets and customer equipment, with direct support to customers and sales reps.

You will perform in-house demonstrations, weld samples, and may assist with boiler outage services and shipping. The position requires an AA or equivalent and strong reading, writing, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school or 6 months to 1 year related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair the regional rental fleet including stud welding systems and power sources.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair customer equipment.
• Assist customers and sales reps with equipment and technical problems.
• Perform in-house demonstrations for customers and weld samples as needed.
• Carry out shipping/receiving and company deliveries when required.

The Job: As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be part of our Nelson Stud Welding commercial team working as an on-site employee. You’ll get to:

• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair the regional rental fleet, including stud welding systems, power sources, and field diesel vehicles.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair customer equipment.
• Assist customers in person and via the telephone with equipment, accessory, and technical problems.
• Assist sales representatives in person and via the telephone with equipment, accessory, and technical problems.
• Perform in-house demonstrations for customers.
• Weld samples for sales representatives and customers.
• Perform as a boiler outage service technician as required.
• Perform cycle counts as directed.
• Perform shipping and receiving responsibilities when required.
• Complete company deliveries to various customer/warehouse locations as needed.
• Occasionally perform general building maintenance.

• Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions, area, circumference, and volume.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The Salary range for this position is $55,100.00 - $88,700.00. This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements. Please note that salary is only one component of total rewards at Stanley Black & Decker. The salary range listed in this job posting reflects the range for the primary location specified.
