Job summary

Stephenson Equipment, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment at customer sites around Harrisburg.

You’ll use advanced diagnostics and stand-alone tools to keep equipment running and minimize downtime, while delivering quality workmanship and strong customer service. The role offers independence with support from an experienced service team, competitive pay based on experience, and benefits in a growing, ESOP-enabled company.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must provide and maintain a personal set of professional mechanic’s hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, powertrain, and controls.
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections and warranty repairs.
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure peak performance.
• Respond to emergency service calls to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical bulletins.
• Accurately complete work orders and service reports.
• Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status with customers.
• Follow all safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Field Service Technician (Construction Equipment)

SEI is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission heavy construction equipment at customer job sites near Harrisburg facility. As a Field Service Technician, you'll be the trusted expert our customers rely on to keep their equipment operating safely and efficiently.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field and at SEI facilities.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and electronic controls.
• Complete preventative maintenance inspections and warranty repairs.
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure peak performance and customer satisfaction.
• Respond to emergency service calls to minimize customer downtime.
• Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical bulletins.
• Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Operate and maintain a company service truck, tools, and parts inventory.
• Accurately complete work orders, service reports, inspection forms, and warranty documentation.
• Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status professionally with customers.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment, paving equipment, road maintenance equipment, or other diesel-powered machinery.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Must provide and maintain a personal set of professional mechanic's hand tools required to perform the essential functions of the position. Specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, and company-specific tooling are provided by Stephenson Equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical degree or certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field.
• Experience servicing construction, paving, or road maintenance equipment.
• CDL (preferred but not required).

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to:

• Lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
• Stand, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
