Job summary

System One is seeking a Field Technician to support residential energy programs by installing, inspecting, modifying, removing, and servicing Direct Load Control (DLC) devices. This hands-on role requires comfort with field work and customer interaction.

Ideal candidates have a technical background in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, construction, or related trades, and a willingness to travel up to 95% and engage in on-call rotations. High school diploma required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, construction, or related trades.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with basic tools.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, modify, remove, and service Direct Load Control devices.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and equipment issues.
• Demonstrate understanding of residential air conditioning systems.
• Use hand tools safely and effectively.
• Follow safety procedures, customer requirements, and quality standards.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service on-site.
• Complete required documentation and service reports.
• Perform routine vehicle safety inspections.
• Assist with warehouse organization and inventory.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
• Travel to job sites as needed; work independently and with the field team.
• Complete additional projects as assigned.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Field Technician to support residential energy programs through the installation, inspection, modification, removal, and service of Direct Load Control (DLC) devices.

This is a hands-on field position that is a great fit for someone with experience or training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical systems, construction, or other technical trades. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, interacting with customers, using tools, and traveling to different job sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, modify, remove, and service Direct Load Control devices
• Troubleshoot basic electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and equipment-related issues
• Demonstrate a basic understanding of residential air conditioning systems
• Use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively
• Follow safety procedures, customer requirements, and quality standards
• Provide professional and courteous customer service while working in residential settings
• Complete required documentation, data entry, inventory counts, and service reports
• Perform routine vehicle safety inspections and help maintain assigned fleet vehicles
• Assist with warehouse organization, inventory, and equipment storage
• Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation
• Travel to job sites, including occasional weekend travel, based on customer and project needs
• Work independently while also collaborating with a field team
• Complete additional projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of experience in one or more of the following preferred:

• Self‑motivated, organized, and able to work independently with limited supervision
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete accurate documentation
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Willingness to travel up to 95%
