Job description

Job Title: Field Service Technician

We have an outstanding Contract position for a Field Service Technician to join a leading Company located in the Detroit, MI surrounding area.

US Citizenship is required. The position is on 2nd shift but will train on first shift for about 5 weeks.

The successful candidate will have prior work history and a proven track record in the configuration, operation, and maintenance of hand-held portable computers, desktop systems, and/or servers, as well as wireless networks in an industrial manufacturing environment. Knowledge and expertise in Windows operating systems management are required (Linux familiarity is a plus). Expertise with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications is also required.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Interface regularly with management and engineering groups regarding systems and product performance, initiating, reporting on, contributing to, and responding to suggestions for improvement.
  2. Collaborate virtually and in person with vehicle engineering and tooling engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operations through structured problem analysis and troubleshooting.
  3. Perform customer support activities involving the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
  4. Conduct on-site installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper operation.
  5. Isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective action.
  6. Prepare daily logs and reports of work performed.
  7. Complete predetermined work assignments with detailed instructions.
  8. Occasional travel may be required.
Basic Hiring Criteria:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of related experience.
  2. Experience in vehicle diagnostics, fault codes, and vehicle electrical and electronic systems is highly desirable.
  3. Knowledge and expertise in Windows operating systems management are required (Linux familiarity is a plus).
  4. Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications is required.
Desired Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology is beneficial.
  2. Experience with vehicle diagnostics, fault codes, and vehicle electrical and electronic systems is highly desirable.
