Job description

A long-established industrial equipment manufacturer in the Dayton area is looking to add a Field Service Technician to its growing service team.

The company designs and manufactures highly customized industrial equipment used by major manufacturing customers across the U.S. This is a hands-on role supporting equipment from final testing and startup through installation, troubleshooting, and ongoing customer support.

You'll work closely with controls engineers, service technicians, and customers, with a mix of work performed at the company's Dayton-area facility and at customer sites.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Start up, test, and debug completed control panels and equipment prior to shipment
  • Travel to customer facilities to support equipment installation, integration, startup, and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoot electrical, controls, and mechanical issues on industrial equipment
  • Diagnose PLC and relay logic issues and provide programming support as needed
  • Work with 240/480V single- and three-phase electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot AC/DC control circuits, motors, sensors, valves, and other industrial components
  • Build, modify, and troubleshoot electrical control panels
  • Wire industrial machinery and run rigid and EMT conduit
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and panel layouts
  • Support pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Work alongside engineering and production teams to resolve equipment issues
  • Provide technical support directly to customers both onsite and remotely
  • Assist with combustion-related equipment and systems as experience allows
What They're Looking For
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with industrial electrical controls, field service, equipment maintenance, machine building, or a similar environment
  • Experience assembling, wiring, testing, or troubleshooting electrical control panels
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC and relay logic
  • Strong understanding of 240/480V industrial electrical systems
  • Experience with AC/DC controls and industrial electrical components
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort troubleshooting industrial machinery
  • Exposure to pneumatics, hydraulics, valves, motors, and related equipment
  • Comfortable working independently at customer facilities
  • Willingness to travel by car and air as required
  • Associate degree in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered
  • Combustion experience is a plus, but not required
The Environment

This isn't a repetitive production-maintenance position. The company builds custom-engineered industrial equipment, so technicians are exposed to different systems, applications, and technical challenges from project to project.

The role can involve working in active industrial and foundry environments, including facilities with molten-metal processes. Candidates should be comfortable working around operating machinery, climbing ladders when required, and working hands-on around equipment.

Why Consider It?
  • Established company with a long-tenured workforce
  • Highly customized equipment and varied technical work
  • Opportunity to work directly alongside experienced controls and engineering professionals
  • Hands-on involvement in equipment testing, startup, and customer support
  • Exposure to electrical, controls, mechanical, and industrial process systems
  • Healthcare and 401(k)
  • Additional company bonus/profit-sharing opportunities historically offered
  • Opportunity to grow technically within an expanding service and engineering organization
