Field Service Technician

Location: Columbus, OH

Company Overview: Technical Diagnostic Services (TDS), a TechPro Power Group company, based in Fort Worth, TX, delivers industry‑leading service solutions for over 25 years to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and other Industrial end markets.

We are seeking highly skilled Field Service Technicians to support a large Data Center project in the greater Columbus, Ohio area.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment in Data Center facilities.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, metering/testing equipment, and precision instruments.
• Collaborate with internal team members and customers/end‑users to complete projects within defined timelines.
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications

• Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
• Strong electrical aptitude and understanding of power systems.
• Knowledge of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
• Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands‑on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc).
• Strong communication skills and ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in switchgear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, or data‑center environments.
• Knowledge of industry‑specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

Project Details

• Project: Data Center Site – Columbus, OH area.
• Schedule: Full‑time Monday – Friday.
• Pay: Based on level of expertise (over time available).
• Per diem: $150 per day for 7 days per week.
• Mobility: $1,000 each way for transport.
• Start Date: Immediate (Mid‑October 2025).

Physical Requirements

• Regularly lift, carry, or move up to 75 pounds.
• Climb ladders, staircases, step stools; stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including intense heat/cold, muddy, and wet environments.
• Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
