Job Title: Electrical Commissioning Field Service Technician
Location: Cedar Rapids, IA

TDS provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control construction, testing, and start‑up and commissioning services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas / Petrochemical, Heavy Process, and other Industrial end markets. We are a dynamic and rapidly growing company in search of highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Field Service Technicians to join our team to support a large Data Center project in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform the necessary Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment within Data Center Facilities.
• Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
• Collaborate with internal team members & customers/end‑users to complete projects within defined timelines.
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Qualifications

• Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
• Strong electrical aptitude, understanding of power systems and problem‑solving skills.
• Thorough understanding of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
• Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
• Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands‑on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.).
• Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites within the United States.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3‑5+ years of experience in switchgear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, and/or data center environments.
• Knowledge of industry‑specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards/protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).

• Duration: 18‑24+ months (could extend)
• Per Diem: Yes, Provided ($178/day x 7 days per week)
• Mob/Demob: Yes, $1000 each way
• Schedule: Full‑time Monday – Friday (5‑10's) + Additional O/T.
• Pay‑rate: Based Upon level of Expertise.
• Overtime: Yes
• Start Date: Immediately (May 2026)

Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry and/or move up to 75 lbs repeatedly.
• Climb ladders, staircases, step stools, stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.
• Bend, stoop, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours.

Additional Requirements

• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including intense heat/cold, muddy and wet environments.
• Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
• Communicate verbally and in writing.
