Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Field Technician to inspect, test, and maintain electrical power equipment across multiple sites in Ohio and Indiana.

The role requires leading safety briefings, performing LV/MV/HV testing, and guiding a crew through complex troubleshooting. You will work with SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, transformers, grounding, and instrument transformers, while ensuring compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in electrical/electronic technology or military experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • NETA certification is a plus.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Drive daily locally/regionally; available for periodic overnight travel.
  • Lead safety briefings on job sites and mitigate hazards.
  • Perform high, medium, and low voltage testing as crew leader.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment; prepare and maintain test reports.
  • Interact with customers and train field technicians.
  • Develop and write reports and plans for testing apparatus.
  • Project management of large scale and complex tasks.

Position Summary: The Sr. Field Technician will inspect, test, and maintain High, Medium, and Low electrical power equipment. Technicians will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and variance of switches both manual and motor operated. Technicians will implement safety policies.

Responsibilities
  • Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel
  • Lead safety briefings on job sites, identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards
  • Perform High, Medium, and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment as a crew leader
  • Utilize Human Performance Error Elimination concepts and tool
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning
  • Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components
  • Leader in Safety Culture and responsible for other team members
  • Ability to install, test and maintain electrical apparatus
  • Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results
  • Develop and write reports
  • Create plans for testing apparatus
  • Project management of large scale and complex
  • Ability to train and qualify Field Technician I, II and
  • Interact with customers
  • Ability to perform complex troubleshooting
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.
  • Complete a satisfactory criminal background check
  • Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record

    • Motors
    • PT's & CCVT's

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in electrical/Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred
  • 10+ Years Relevant Industry Experience
  • NETAIIICertified or NETAIVCertified a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70Lbs
