The Field Service Technician is expected to inspect, test, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain various types of power distribution system equipment.
The role includes the following responsibilities:
- Provide industry-best customer service—always exceeding customer expectations.
- Assume emergency on-call duties and respond promptly to customer emergencies if required.
- Contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies outlined in the company safety manual and customer safety guidelines.
- Exhibit a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain low, medium, and high voltage electrical system equipment.
- Set up and perform electrical tests on transformers, MV and HV conductors, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, switchgear, and relays, including specific testing procedures.
- Properly check in and check out test equipment, reporting any damages or unusable items.
- Treat all company assets with care.
- Prepare and submit daily reports on job progress and completion.
- Review and submit all administrative paperwork promptly.
- Commit to continuous learning and complete all required training timely.
- Work a flexible schedule, including overtime, evenings, weekends, holidays, and night hours as needed.
- Drive locally/regionally daily and be available for periodic overnight travel.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with strong communication skills.
Minimum requirements include:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Pass pre-employment drug, background, and reference checks.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Eligibility to work in the US without employer-sponsored VISA.
- Physical ability to perform strenuous activities, including lifting up to 75 pounds, working outdoors in all weather, and wearing personal protective equipment.
- Educational background in electrical trades or industrial electricity, such as a two-year vocational program or associate degree.
- Experience with medium voltage splicing, transformer and switchgear installation, reading electrical diagrams, and utilizing industrial electrical test equipment.
- Certifications such as NETA, OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70-E, and a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- At least two years of relevant experience in industrial electrical projects.
