Job summary

Atlas Copco North America LLC is seeking a field service technician to safely perform maintenance and repairs on air compressors, dryers, gas generators, and ancillary equipment at customer sites. Extensive US travel is required.

You will diagnose issues, document root causes, test equipment, and provide detailed visit reports. Strong mechanical and electrical skills, independent work, and excellent customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of technical experience maintaining and repairing Atlas Copco air compressors.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with expertise in maintenance, overhaul and repair of industrial equipment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Must have completed Level 1 Air Academy training and Level 1 or 2 training for primary equipment.
• Able to work independently with good self-management and professionalism; meet deadlines.
• Fluent in English with a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial environments with temperature extremes.
• Residence within reasonable commute of assigned territory; ability to park a company vehicle at home.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive maintenance and repairs on air compressors, dryers, gas generators, and ancillary equipment.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions; document root causes and perform repairs as advised.
• Test and document operating parameters; discuss abnormalities with customers.
• Document all work daily using company hardware/software; update work orders and provide PCA and signatures.
• Develop rapport with customers and technicians; conduct pre-call with customers.
• Provide basic tools and maintain tools/equipment; ensure safety PPE is used.
• Expand knowledge to VSDs, refrigeration, industrial networks, remote monitoring, and air audits.
• Demonstrate time management and work independently while maintaining safety procedures.
• Collaborate with team and participate in on-the-job training.

Your role

Mission

• Safely perform routine, preventative maintenance, and repairs on air compressors, dryers, gas generators, and ancillary equipment at customer sites and provide a complete solution for customers' industrial equipment maintenance needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Safely perform routine, preventative maintenance and repairs on all brands of air compressors, dryers, gas generators, and ancillary equipment. Preventative maintenance should be conducted in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations (with regard to schedule and scope).
• Troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on malfunctioning equipment, document root causes for malfunctions, and perform repairs as suggested by diagnostics and assessment. Prior to and following preventative maintenance and repairs, test and document the proper operating parameters of the equipment noting and reviewing any abnormalities with the customer.
• Document and discuss recommended repairs to customer's equipment to ensure maximum uptime and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Document all work performed daily using company-provided hardware and software. Completes timesheets daily in TimeClock Plus. Proficient in updating all work orders and providing detailed visit reports to the customer with PCA (Problem, Cause, Action) as well as customer signature.
• Develop rapport with customers and other technicians through effective communication interpersonal skills and professionalism, Customer Pre calls are done prior to the visit.
• Provide basic tools to accomplish the job along with normal maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Display the ability to absorb a higher level of learning including VSD's, refrigeration, industrial networks, remote monitoring, and air audits. Provide a high level of customer service, responding to customer needs and working to satisfy customer expectations.
• Display the ability to manage time accordingly. Must have the ability to work and solve problems independently. Always promote and practice proper safety procedures and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
• Work as a team sharing knowledge with colleagues and participate in on-the-job training of self and others as skills allow.

To succeed, you will need

Experience

• 1-2 years of technical experience maintaining and repairing various types of Atlas Copco air compressors.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills with demonstrated expertise in the maintenance, overhaul, and repair of a wide variety of industrial equipment, including electrical, hydraulics and/or pneumatics.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required with technical training in electrical, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics preferred.
• Must have completed at least Level 1 Air Academy training, and Level 1 or 2 training for primary equipment.
• Able to work independently with strong self-management and professionalism. Able to complete work within assigned deadlines. Computer proficiency as required for communication, research, work orders and programming various controllers. Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Must be able to embrace challenges without avoiding challenging situations.
• Employees will be subject to random drug testing.
• Must be fluent in English and have a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to lift upto 50 lbs. regularly and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.
• This position requires that you reside within reasonable commute (within 30 minutes to one hour) of the assigned territory. Proof of residency will be required.
• The position requires that you must be able to park a company issued, branded service vehicle at your place of residence without any restrictions.

Travel

Extensive travel to customer locations, including out-of-town and overnight travel. Available for possible work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Travel within all of US.
