Actalent is seeking a Field Service Technician to support installation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of custom industrial automation equipment at customer facilities. The role demands up to 60% travel, primarily in the U.S.

with one international trip per year, and a competitive hourly pay range. The successful candidate will install, troubleshoot, and service sophisticated automation equipment, read schematics, and train customers on operation and maintenance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of field service or technician experience with industrial automation equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Industrial maintenance, millwright work, field service, machine building, or similar hands-on environments.
• Strong communication and customer interface skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, and service calls.

As a Field Service Technician specializing in industrial automation - supporting installation, startup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of custom industrial automation equipment at customer facilities.

Job Title: Field Service Technician

Travel

Travel 50-60%

• Primarily U.S. travel - 1 internationally trip/year
• Typical trips are Mon. - Fri. with weekends at home
• Company CC for all travel expenses: hotel, flights, cars, gas, meals
• $130/day travel premium

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automation equipment
• mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting and repair

• Support equipment startups, testing, and commissioning activities

Essential Skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and modifying PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley preferred).
• Experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in the field
• Exposure to commissioning and startup activities.

Work Environment

40-hour workweeks when local - and 60-70 hours while traveling, time and a half pay for over 40 hours

Limited international travel is required, with occasional trips to Canada, Mexico, and overseas destinations such as Japan or Australia.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Belding, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
