Job summary

Voith Paper is hiring a Field Service Technician in Appleton, WI to install equipment at customer sites and perform repairs in our Voith facility. The role requires frequent travel across North America, with occasional international travel, and a focus on safe, reliable fiber systems installation.

Reporting to the Service Department manager within the MW micro-enterprise line, you will coordinate with customer personnel, participate in on-site discussions, organize tools and parts, and strive

Qualifications

• Experience installing equipment in paper industry or similar; able to learn fiber system components.
• Good mechanical aptitude with knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and controls.
• Able to read mechanical drawings, control schematics, and bills of materials.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers.
• Capable of working independently and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment at customer sites and repair equipment in Voith facility.
• Maintain safe work environment in field operations and coordinate with customer personnel.
• Collaborate with customers to plan onsite work and participate in installation discussions.
• Organize tools and parts for field service activities and ensure timely punch list closure.
• Travel frequently within North America; occasional international travel may be required.

SUMMARY

The "Field Service Technician I" is a member of the Service Department working under the direction of the manager of the MW micro-enterprise business reporting under the Service business. The Field Service Technician I is responsible to install equipment at customer site and repair equipment in our Voith facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a safe work environment in the field, to heighten safety awareness amongst all Field ServiceTechnicians
• Perform work, supervised and unsupervised, in the field at customer's mill site
• Collaboration with customer personnel planning onsite work
• Participate in installation related discussions, in house or at customer site
• Main responsibility is the installation of fiber systems equipment and parts
• Organize tools and parts needed for field service activities
• Follow up visits to complete any punch list items and complete the job for final acceptance by thecustomer
• Continually look for improvements in materials, methods, and tooling required to complete field service and repair activities
• If applicable, complete timely and accurate service reports, time records, and expense forms
• Conduct or participate in meetings with managers, co-workers, and / or customers
• Able to travel on a frequent basis within North America, occasional international travel will be required
• Perform other duties as assigned such as in-house technical assistance for customers

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required)

• Experienced in installation work in the paper industry, and ability to learn the details of a variety of fiber system equipment
• A good mechanical aptitude as well as basic knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulic and controls
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, control schematics and bills of materials
• Good communication skills, verbal, and written, with good customer relation skills
• Ability to operate independent of daily direction
• Comply with all company policies and procedures
• Construction experience in the paper or similar industry
• Excellent customer relations skills
• Ability to operate independent of daily direction, i.e. sees what needs to be done and does it
• Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and demands, makes things happen, gets results
• Good troubleshooting/problem solving skills

EDUCATION REQUIRED (minimum)

• High school degree in and/or related experience
