Job summary

Voith US Inc. is seeking a Supervisor of Engineering to lead the engineering team at the Monroe site, aligning local objectives with regional goals.

You will motivate direct reports, allocate resources, and drive improvements in quality and processes across product offerings and services. The role requires strong leadership, project management, and data-driven decision making, with a focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Requires at least 5 years of related experience in Paper & Pulp, Engineering, Service, or Machine Shop.
  • Proven leadership experience managing others and driving results.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or Operational Excellence training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Motivate and lead direct reports, communicating targets, goals, and expectations to meet site strategy and budget.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support to internal and external customers.
  • Investigate problems and lead improvements to ensure high quality across offerings and services.
  • Evaluate workloads to optimize departmental efficiency and resource allocation.
  • Develop and coach team with project management and skill development.
  • Manage shop jobs with emphasis on customer service and revenue generation.

Summary:

In this position, the engineering supervisor will manage, lead and coach the engineering team to achieve local site and regional objectives and goals. Will need to manage multiple projects and allocate resources effectively, while aligning with the demands of the business and customer base. Will foster a cooperative relationship with other key stakeholders within the site, support regional and local strategies, and meet financial goals and targets.

Responsibilities:
  • Motivate and lead direct reports, communicate targets, goals, and expectations to meet site strategy and budget (25% of time spent)
  • Provide technical recommendations and support, both to internaland external customers (15% of time spent)
  • Investigate problems and lead in facilitating recommendations for improvements to ensure the highest level of quality throughout product offerings and services provided. (20% of time of spent)
  • Evaluate workloads within department to ensure appropriate facilitation of job tasks and workload to optimize departmental efficiency (20% of time spent)
  • Develop and coach team by increasing their roll knowledge, project management, and enhance skill set (20% of time spent)
  • Manage shop jobs with an emphasis on customer service, inside sales, and revenue generation. (10 to 30 open jobs).

  • Knowledge of paper machine industry experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and problem solve effectively

  • Communicates with shop personnel in a manner that is positive and collaborative.
  • Demonstrates a good technical aptitude, makes good decisions and is willing to ask questions rather than make mistakes
  • Understands proper delegations when needed to spread workload and make things happen
Requirements:
  • A combination of at least 5 years of related experience in the following industries: Paper & Pulp, Engineering, Service, and/or Machine Shop.
  • Proven leader with previous experience of managing others
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred
  • Project Management
  • Data analysis background with high proficiency in excel and experience working with databases.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related field or 2 years of college education with >5 years of industry experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, and interpersonal skills necessary to operate in a team environment.
  • Lean Management, Six Sigma and/or Operational Excellence training preferred.
Physical Demands:

Employees in this position are regularly required to sit, walk, stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel. They are occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Employees regularly talk and hear and must be able to lift 10 pounds. Rarely are employees required to lift up to 50 pounds. Safety glasses, hearing protection and other PPE are required in designated areas.
