Job summary

Yancey Bros. Co. in Albany, GA is seeking an Electrical Power Generation Field Service Technician to install, maintain and troubleshoot generator systems, switchgear and related electrical equipment for Caterpillar products.

Candidates should have a mechanical and electrical aptitude, 3+ years of EPG field experience or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read schematics; strong customer service and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 3+ years of EPG field experience or accepted alternate.
• Experience with Diesel and Natural Gas Engines, Electrical Switchgear, AT switches and Balance of Plant equipment.
• Good working knowledge of power generation components, power electronics, electronic controls and fuel systems.
• Able to read electrical schematics and equipment mechanical drawings.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Desire and aptitude to perform hands-on work.
• Must be 21 years or older and have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English; able to clear driver screenings and meet DQ file requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site customer support through technical evaluations, troubleshooting and problem solving.
• Repair and maintain reciprocal engine-based power generation/Industrial systems.
• Guide, train, and assist service technicians and customers as requested.
• Explain warranty decisions and communicate service bulletins to customers and office personnel.
• Report field findings clearly and write comprehensive field reports.
• Maintain service manuals and comply with safety procedures.
• Possess strong sense of urgency and customer service orientation.
• Obtain CDL license if required.
