Job summary

ABB Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to support AMLD Survey Operations across Missouri. You will operate specialized equipment to locate emissions, conduct on-foot surveys, and log precise results while collaborating with multiple service regions.

The role requires travel up to 75% and strong customer-facing communication. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, at least 1 year in a technical support field role, and the ability to obtain an Operator Qualified status after

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • 1+ years of field experience in a customer facing technical support role is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% as required.
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid passport and driver's license.
  • Prior experience in the natural gas utility industry, with a focus on sustainability initiatives, technological innovations, and regulatory compliance, is desirable.
  • Proven ability to cultivate strong customer relationships and adeptly convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated capacity to collaborate across cross-functional teams, including R&D, Product Management, Sales, and Business Development.
  • Proficiency in using computers and relevant software is required; must pass an evaluation to become Operator Qualified.

Responsibilities

  • Operate vehicles equipped with methane/ethane sensors to identify emissions across survey areas.
  • Conduct on-foot surveys, detect emissions, grade findings, and log results.
  • Provide coverage across four service regions to balance workload and meet commitments.
  • Work with gas utility customers to identify and solve operational issues and communicate timelines.
  • Provide expert technical support in diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Perform field service tasks including installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance of ABB equipment.
  • Record findings and create detailed reports and documentation of field activities.
  • Complete field service reports, timesheets, expense reports, and other documentation in a timely manner.
